Our client, an Offshore Drilling company in Nigeria executing project for major IOC’s, is recruiting for a Rig Mechanic to join their offshore drilling operations.

Summary

Reporting to the Chief Mechanic, the Rig mechanic is responsible for all mechanical and hydraulic maintenance and engineering activities on the jack up installation with accountability for the health and safety of all persons under their authority.

Roles/Responsibility

  • The safe and efficient operation of the vessel power plant and mechanical installation in order to maintain continuous operation of drilling, marine, accommodation and auxiliary services at all times.
  • Carry out all work in accordance with company and legislative requirements with regards company procedures and class rules.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out only after an appropriate risk assessment toolbox talk and under an approved permit to work.
  • To liaise with the Chief Mechanic with regard to maintenance/repairs and planning ahead so as to avoid the risk of delay through equipment breakdown.
  • Use preventative maintenance programme in accordance with company requirements and as directed by the Chief Mechanic.
  • Ensure there is always an adequate stock of mechanical parts, tools and consumables onboard at all times to maintain a continuous operation.
  • Carry out tasks as part of a multi-discipline maintenance team as operational requirements dictate.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical, maintenance and repair with 2 years working with Hydraulics and Pneumatics.
  • Accredited technical or trade school or institute with offshore survival and medical certificate.
  • Candidates should possess relevant qualifications.
  • BOSIET/HUET/SAS
  • Seaman’s Book
  • Covid Vaccination Certificate.
