Our client is an Offshore Drilling company with international drilling locations. Due to expansion and work demand from executing project for major IOC’s, they have a need to recruit Rig Electricians to join their Nigerian drilling operations.
Roles/Responsibility
Operations/Maintenance:
- Assist the Chief Electrician in the installation, maintenance and repair of all electrical equipment onboard the vessel.
- Perform daily inspections and maintenance on electrical equipment.
- Comply with the permit to work and isolation systems.
- Carry out periodic maintenance according to the Rig Maintenance System (RMS) guidelines and coordinate that maintenance with supervisor and other department heads.
- Maintain, troubleshoot and repair all power generation and distribution equipment, i.e. generators and engine controls, SCRs, switchgears, transformers, etc.
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of general rig equipment such as HVAC system, refrigeration plants, communication systems, lighting, etc.
- Carry out maintenance and repair on electrical components of drilling equipment.
HSE:
- Incorporate the Safety risk assessment process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team.
- Participate daily in Safety Conversations Process.
- Apply Safety Conversations and monitoring during the execution of planned tasks.
- Call a Time Out for Safety (TOFS) whenever an unplanned hazard or a change in the expected results is observed.
- Carry out assigned duties in a safe manner according to Company policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in weekly safety meetings and pre-tour meetings as required.
- Report any incidents, potential hazards or abnormal situations to supervisor and other department heads.
PREREQUISITES / QUALIFICATIONS:
- Electrical Qualifications / Apprenticeship – Essential.
- Hold CompEx Hazardous certification.
- Hold BOSIET/FOET, CA-EBS and MIST certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Work experience and demonstrated ability of oral and written communications may be substituted in lieu of formal education.
- Meet the training requirements according to the applicable training matrix.
- Knowledge of all technical calculations required for electrical operation of the drilling unit and basic computer skills.
- Valid OEUK medical.
