Offshore Decommissioning Engineer

Our client an offshore decommissioning service provider for oil and gas installations are in urgent need for an Offshore Decommissioning Engineer to join their team offshore in the North Sea UK.

This role is an integral position within the Jack-up Project crew and is responsible for the on-site project engineering.

The ODE reviews all the project execution documentation. He/she is responsible for creating all on-site engineering such as non-engineered lifting plans, additional method statements and job cards, documenting management of changes. The ODE will report directly to the Offshore Project Superintendent.

Projects Summary:

The projects will start with the integration /outfitting of the project equipment to the newly built Heavy lift (ROV, transfer system, lifting equipment and tools, etc) and the commissioning of it in the yard. The initial offshore campaigns comprise the removal of jackets (up to 4 jackets in one batch) in the North Sea UK sector followed by load-in at the disposal yard. The subsequent campaigns will consist of jacket and topsides removal with larger-scale projects starting in 2026.

Responsibility:

  • Prepare preliminary lift plans in accordance with client’s rigging and lifting LOLER procedures, ensure the correct Lifting equipment is available for the task.
  • Provide the latest “On-deck” feedback to the offshore superintendent to coordinate the work and ensure all activities progress as per plan.
  • Prepare additional Method statements and Job cards when additional scope is required offshore. Document the change in the Management of Change process.
  • Manage pro-actively the deck layout drawings, and review clash checks in 2D and 3D. Manage logistics requirements in conjunction with the Barge engineer and MATCO.
  • Manage on a daily basis the subcontractor engineering, the material condition and consumables availability.
  • Is “hands-on”, verify the suitability of the material (owned by client or provided by subcontractors) with the supervisor. Attend all tools and the function test on deck.
  • Forecast and further identify construction issues such as materials shortages plant & equipment, manning, and operational requirements etc that may impact project progress and feedback to the offshore superintendent

Qualification/Profile:

  • 5-year experience in the industrial sector, ideally Heavy lifting.
  • Degree in mechanical, structural, or naval engineering.
  • Experience in decommissioning/Hook-up or one of the following industrial equipment installation: Offshore, Nuclear, Hydro, complex civil construction.

Attitude and skills:

  • Willing to be part of a fast-paced developing company, with a steep learning curve, to share its experience and knowledge with the team.
  • Advanced to Expert in CAD, able to create, amend and develop drawings (AutoCAD, Inventor).
  • Knowledge of one or multiple of the following: Lifting, subsea construction/demolition work, welding, rope access, onshore heavy transport SPMT.
  • Team player and autonomous worker.
  • Very good computer skills with the ability to create detailed and meticulous documentation, reporting, and cost control.
  • Good communication skills. English mandatory.
